  • Location Data: Real-time location when you use our app to provide accurate pickup, navigation, and drop-off services.
  • Payment Information: Payment card details and transaction history processed securely through our payment partners.
  • Device Information: Device type, operating system, unique device identifiers, and mobile network information.
  • Usage Data: How you interact with our app, including ride history, ratings, and preferences.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To provide and improve our ride-hailing services and match you with nearby drivers.
  • To process payments and prevent fraudulent transactions.
  • To send you important updates about your trips, account, and our services.
  • To personalize your experience and provide relevant promotions and offers.
  • To ensure safety and security for all riders and drivers.
  • To comply with legal obligations and respond to law enforcement requests when required.

3. Information Sharing

  • Drivers: We share your name, pickup location, and destination with drivers to complete your ride.
  • Phone number sharing during active rides: When you request or accept a ride, OyaRiyder may share your phone number with the other party to the trip (rider or driver) so you can coordinate by phone. Number sharing is initiated by you each time, requires your prior consent via an in-app prompt, and is limited to rides in progress. Numbers are not stored by the other party through the app - they are rendered into the device's phone dialer. We are in the process of replacing this with in-app voice calls that do not share phone numbers; this section will be updated when that change ships. This processing is carried out under the lawful basis of "performance of a contract" (Section 25(1)(b), Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023). You may withdraw consent at any time by emailing privacy@oyariyders.com / using Account → Communication Preferences → Call privacy in the app; doing so will disable in-trip calling.
  • Payment Processors: Transaction details are shared with our secure payment partners.
  • Service Providers: We work with trusted third parties for analytics, customer support, and marketing.
  • Legal Requirements: We may disclose information when required by law or to protect rights and safety.
  • We never sell your personal information to third parties for their marketing purposes.

4. Data Security

  • We use industry-standard encryption (SSL/TLS) to protect data in transit.
  • Sensitive information is stored in encrypted databases with strict access controls.
  • We regularly audit our security practices and update them to address new threats.
  • Payment card information is handled in compliance with PCI-DSS standards.
  • We promptly investigate and respond to security incidents.

5. Your Rights and Choices

  • Access: You can request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
  • Correction: You can update or correct your account information at any time through the app.
  • Deletion: You can request deletion of your account and associated data.
  • Opt-out: You can unsubscribe from promotional emails and manage notification preferences.
  • Location: You can disable location services, though this may limit app functionality.

6. Data Retention

  • We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services.
  • After account deletion, we may retain certain information for legal, safety, and business purposes for up to 3 years.
  • Anonymized data may be kept indefinitely for analytics and service improvement.

7. Updates to This Policy

  • We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements.
  • We will notify you of significant changes through the app or via email.
  • Your continued use of our services after updates constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
